How Warcop fits into the wider cluster

The first five Cumbrian Resilient Community Projects, Appleby, Penrith, Warcop, Brough, and Kirkby Stephen, are designed to work together as a Resilient Power Pool cluster.

  • Each local Community Energy Service can operate independently while also connecting into a shared, interoperable regional network.
  • Standardised infrastructure, local generation, battery storage, bidirectional EV integration, and local trading allow energy to be balanced and exchanged across communities.
  • During stress events or outages, the cluster can support coordinated emergency response through DESO activation and mutual resilience between neighbouring projects.
  • The long-term goal is stronger energy security, lower costs, better use of local assets, and greater community energy sovereignty across the region.
